The oil in the Arctic may last fifty years or more or less. But the cycle of a politician's term is only a few years. By providing something that will make him/her seem favorable -- such as lower oil prices -- during a term, a politician can gain another term. And another. And another. In fifty years, likely they will not be in a position of power, so who gives a damn, eh? Here’s the problem. The oil in the Arctic may last fifty years or more or less.
